The Briefing … One Nation walks away from tax cuts

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation has abruptly withdrawn its support for the federal government’s corporate tax cuts, further reducing the likelihood the reform package will pass the senate.

Speaking to The Australian ($), Hanson said “the government has not been able to sell the package to the people” and the slow phase-in of the tax cuts was “not good enough”. In return for the party’s renewed support Hanson made several demands, including a gas pipeline connecting the east and west coasts, a reduction in immigration numbers and a tightened petroleum resource rent tax
