A massive bribery and corruption scandal enveloping the highest reaches of the United States Navy could extend to the Royal Australian Navy.
Yesterday the ABC reported that former RAN lieutenant commander Alex Gillett was implicated in a network of corrupt American naval officers who directed movements of the US 7th Fleet at the behest of “Fat” Leonard Francis, a Singaporean naval contractor who overbilled the US Navy by tens of millions of dollars when its ships docked in ports controlled by his company, Glenn Defense Marine Asia.
