Residents of the central Queensland town of Biloela have used ABC TV current affairs program Q&A to demand the return of a local asylum seeker family seized by Australian Border Force officials and placed in detention.
Nadesalingam, Priya and their two Australian-born children were detained by ABF officers in a dawn raid on their home in March, and have since been in a Melbourne detention centre despite locals and more than 100,000 people calling for their release. “Our town love this little family, and we want them”, a local resident told the Q&A panel. “What more could we do to ensure that Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharunicaa return home to Biloela?” …
