Brooke is summarising the weather event with the following points:

• South Eastern area experienced heavy rainfall overnight, which has extended to the north east today.
• Winds of 131 km/h at Mt Wellington/kunyani, other areas have experienced over 100 km/h winds.
• Records for rainfall include:
o Hobart 129mm – highest May total, fourth highest total on record, fifth time with more than 100mm
o Grove 160mm – its wettest day
o Mt Wellington at 236mm and Leslie Vale at 226mm rank as 2nd & 3rd highest May totals for Tasmania
• Warnings current with details and locations at www.bom.gov.au/tas/warnings/
o Minor flood warnings for Huon, Derwent and North Esk Rivers
o Severe Weather Warning for
o Sheep Graziers Warning
o Road Weather alert.
• Heavy rain eases by this evening, winds ease overnight.
• Saturday will see showers but will be much lower at 2-5mm, possibly 5-10mm in elevated areas.
