Scottsdale scheme welcome news for Tasmanian farmers
The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) today welcomed the announcement that work will begin immediately on the $57 million Scottsdale irrigation scheme.
Farmers will contribute $12 million to the scheme, with the balance being provided by federal and state governments.
“This is another positive sign of the confidence in Tasmanian agriculture and will provide nearly 9000 megalitres of water to the region,” TFGA CEO Peter Skillern said.
“Both levels of government are to be congratulated on this visionary step.”
