As the Huon Valley Council elections in October get ever closer, we are beginning to be barraged with the usual campaign slogans and election promises.
Statements like ” leadership, vision, moving forward etc” are being bandied around to impress the voters.
However in my view, these statements are of little value in making a voting decision, as they are not specific, and may not ever be followed once someone is in office.
A more valuable approach, in my view, is to consider what we know of the personalities, reputations and past actions of all the would be contenders for Council.
To quote the famous words of Sir Winston Churchill:
“Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.
