Government prioritise big business cuts ahead of health and education

Posted on

Federal Member for Bass, Ross Hart has arrived in Canberra ready to advocate for the needs of Northern Tasmanians and a long term vision for Northern Tasmania, ahead of the release of the Federal Budget.
Despite the shocking news coming out of the Royal Commission into the Banks of fraud and theft, the Government shows all the signs of pushing ahead with their proposed $65 billion tax cuts to big business as its top priority.
Member for Bass, Ross Hart said “despite the clear problems surrounding health in Tasmania, including constant ramping at the LGH, access to bulk billing and further increases to the private health premiums, and above all, the necessity for a clear vision for sustainable growth in Northern Tasmania, the Government seems intent on gifting $65 billion to big business that could be better used to alleviate these problems.
“I have listened to people in Bass who would be happy to pay their fair share to fix our health and education systems, but are frustrated when they see reports of companies paying no tax and the behaviour of big business being rewarded while our public institutions like TAFE, our public schools and hospitals, struggle with a lack of resources.
“Malcolm Turnbull and his Government are out of touch with public expectations and are more concerned with big business tax cuts than the health and education of its citizens and a vision for a confident, vibrant Tasmania.
