Dramatic new Crown Casino misconduct allegations

Posted on

The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, is releasing a video that allegedly shows a plastic “pick” being used to jam down a button on a poker machine at Crown Casino in December 2017.

The latest whistleblower who gave this footage to Mr Wilkie is a former Crown Casino croupier, and has agreed to give evidence of misconduct at the Casino to the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation.

“Since October last year I have raised numerous allegations from a number of whistleblowers concerning Crown Casino,” Mr Wilkie said. “These allegations include tampering with poker machines, illicit drug use, money laundering and the cover-up of domestic violence.”

“Crown Casino originally denied that poker machines had been illegally modified but the VCGLR found otherwise and fined the Casino $300,000 earlier this year.

“In April I exposed fresh allegations against the Casino and provided the VCGLR with some of the actual picks allegedly provided to Casino patrons to enable them to jam poker machine buttons to allow for continuous or multiple-machine play. The unauthorised modification of poker machines, and simultaneous multiple-machine play, are in breach of Victorian law.

“I will be providing this footage to the VCGLR and am hopeful they will be able to make a finding about this and other outstanding allegations.

“I continue to be approached by whistleblowers alleging serious misconduct at Crown Casino and will bring these allegations to the attention of the VCGLR and Victoria Police when appropriate.”
