2018 Tasmanian Trade Mission to Asia

Posted on

The Tasmanian Government will lead a Trade Mission to Asia later this year and is today calling for Expressions of Interest for Tasmanian businesses to be involved.
The 2018 Mission will focus on key sectors including agribusiness, Antarctic affairs, tourism and trade.
The delegation will visit Hong Kong, China and other key markets that will be determined in consultation with business participants over the coming months.
The mid-September mission is timed to benefit from existing events including Tourism Tasmania’s scheduled Asia sales mission and Asia Fruit Logistica, Asia’s leading trade show for the international fresh fruit and vegetable industry.
Tasmania’s exports are worth more than $3.5 billion annually to the State’s economy, and have increased by a massive 36 per cent over the last year. The Government is committed to opening up new export markets to grow our economy and create local jobs.
Nine of Tasmania’s top ten export markets are located within Asia and trade with greater China, our largest export partner, has grown by $430 million or 58.5 per cent, in the year to March.
By taking Tasmania to the world we can continue to remain competitive, and open up new opportunities in global markets for Tasmanian businesses.
Expressions of Interest to join the 2018 Tasmanian Trade Mission to Asia close on Friday, 29 June 2018. For further information and to apply go to www.stategrowth.tas.gov.au
