A Melbourne court will decide today if Cardinal George Pell is to face a jury on historic sex offences.
Pell, 76, will front the Melbourne Magistrates Court from 10am as magistrate Belinda Wallington delivers her ruling on whether Pell will stand trial over multiple allegations of sexual assault. While much of the evidence given in the hearing remains confidential, most of the charges stem from Pell’s time in Ballarat in the 1970s, and from the late 1990s while he was Archbishop of Melbourne.
