Australia’s privacy commissioner will investigate Facebook after the social media giant admitted that the personal data of as many as 311,000 Australians may have been shared with political consultancy Cambridge Analytica.
Acting privacy and information commissioner Angelene Falk said her office would investigate whether Facebook had breached Australian privacy law, saying the investigation would “confer with regulatory authorities internationally” given the global nature of the problem.
