FIXING THE HOUSING CRISIS
Kim is particularly concerned about the current housing crisis, and has seen how this hits country towns.
Kim has written an article on this called ~ Fixing the Housing Crisis ~

“Treasurer Peter Gutwein said “we simply need more houses”.”

Kim suggests that we need to simply decide that every citizen in Tasmania will have a home, and meet this basic human need.
It is totally unacceptable that older women and children find themselves homeless, because of our wonderful casino economy.
Growth is great when it creates wealth, but stinks to high heaven when it drives people into poverty.
If we love growth as a society, we can also have a heart, and make sure that while we spin the wheel, we also make sure that every citizen has a home.
With this campaign for Prosser, Kim will be holding many community meetings in towns around the electorate.
Kim will be listening and learning about the needs for work and housing in country towns.
Kim will present a challenge to all elected representatives in Tasmania, to deliver an end to homelessness by Christmas.
If citizens rise up in number and demand that this happen, politicians will respond.
Communities can also take direct action to solve homelessness.
Kim hopes to see a couple of hands-on projects created, in a country town like Ross, where there is a rental housing need, and in Sorell, which is closer to Hobart.
The kindergarten days in Tasmanian politics of playing casino games must end.
There will be more tents at Elwick and other places, if we do not work out a permanent solution to the housing problem.
Finland solved homelessness, by providing homes.
We can do that, by waking up and seeing that simply building houses is not going to solve the homeless problem.
To solve homelessness by Christmas, we must provide homes.
The problem is that simple.
Homelessness is simply a political failure to care for all citizens.
If it’s time to care, then it’s time to end homelessness by Christmas.
EMPLOYMENT
Once the homelessness problem is solved, we can look into ways to provide real employment for all able citizens, at the minimum wage.
SUNDAYS
Kim will be at the campaign HQ at 39 Church Street, Ross, each Sunday, for anyone in Prosser who would like to catch up and discuss concerns.
ROSS BRIDGE ART
Kim is pursuing a project with the Ross Bridge art, to make these unique images in stone accessible to the general public. ~

WORLD PEACE
Kim suggests that the key to world peace may be to get serious about space development. By expanding out, there will be less conflict on Earth. By all human activity being confined to Earth, the planet becomes a pressure cooker, at risk of blowing its lid.
And we are still at war with North Korea, after all these decades.
If space is the key to peace, we need to focus on space.
ABOUT Kim Peart ~ In 2007 Kim was listed among Tasmania’s top 200 movers and shakers for “An urban bushland conservationist who has worked tirelessly over the years to maintain walking tracks and protect wildlife from the encroachment of bush-front housing developments.” Kim is campaigning for an Australian Convict Trail, with the Tasmanian leg running from the ferry in Devonport to Port Arthur, along with foot and cycle paths by Tasmania’s highways and roads. After being at the launch of an Australian Space Agency last September, Kim is seeking ways to create employment, careers and new enterprise in Tasmania with the global space industry.
