Head Coach Sophie Edwards and Assistant Coach Richard Mulcahy from the Burnie Women’s
Dockers have used the first pre-season training run at Marist College grounds on Sunday 10th
December 2017, to welcome and also call for new players to join the TSLW team.
“ We had the trial day for the TSLW team for Burnie today (Sunday 10.12.17) … got a whole bunch of new girls who
came along to have a bit of a run with us and to test their skills out… to put their hands up for State League next year…
so a really fantastic day.
So really from this point forward we’re just wanting everyone who wants to have a crack .. come along and put their
hand up for Burnie… to come along to one of our training sessions. So kicking off this Tuesday (12.12.17) .. Tuesday /
Thursday trainings before Xmas … and then back on the 9th of January (2018)
Anyone who just wants to even come along to one training run and have a go .. we’re wanting as many people to try
footie as possible – so come along.” said Head Coach Sophie Edwards
“ I thought the enthusiasm was really good. They were all very receptive to ideas and what they want to learn. They
were all keen to learn… they want to listen and take it on.
I think there is a massive opportunity for young girls now that North Melbourne has come on board. There’s a big
stepping stone there for them.. it’s up to them how bad do they want it? It’s there for them. So if they want to have a
go, there’s a big opportunity for young girls in football in Tassie at the moment.” said Assistant Coach Richard Mulcahy.
