 Hard work and a positive campaign pays off in Pembroke
 Jo Siejka to join an invigorated, strong Labor team
 Liberals’ scare campaign has been completely undermined

Labor Leader Rebecca White has congratulated Jo Siejka and her campaign team on their victory in Pembroke.

“I am so proud of how hard Jo and her team worked and the positive campaign they ran over the last month,” Ms White said.

“Jo ran a campaign that was in touch with what people care about in Pembroke and had contact with thousands of voters on the doors and phone.

“On the other side, the Liberal campaign was personal, negative and neglected to mention health at all.

“Despite holding Pembroke for more than eight years, the Liberals lost considerable support in an electorate that takes in the Premier’s own seat.

“Will Hodgman put a lot of time and energy into campaigning for his candidate and can’t avoid responsibility for the result.

“This victory gives Labor enormous confidence heading into the State Election in March.

“The Liberals’ scare campaign that only they can win majority government has been shattered.

“We’ve got a full team of candidates across the state who are connecting with voters in the same way Jo is.

“Labor has proven that through hard work, majority government is well and truly within reach.

“We started the term with 8 members and have grown into a team of 11 with a strong sense of renewal.

“From the start of the term, we have seen Josh Willie, Sarah Lovell, Shane Broad and now Jo Siejka join the Labor team. Passionate, hardworking Tasmanians who are connected to their communities.

“In every electorate we have community leaders who have put their hand up to be part of a majority Labor government.

“I am very optimistic about Tasmania’s future and I’m excited about what the next few months will hold for the Labor team.”
