Four outstanding Tasmanian leaders will vie to turn their State wins into national recognition when they head to the gala dinner celebration in Sydney on 5 October.
This year, 11 Tasmanian leaders were shortlisted as finalists across several categories including Leader/Manager, Owner/Entrepreneur, Not for Profit, and Community Leader, reflecting the diverse professional backgrounds of Tasmanian leadership, from the public sector, to small business, to charity organisations.
The four Tasmanian category winners are:
• Mat Rowell, CEO of Relationships Australia Tasmania | Not For Profit category
Social Work qualified, Mat has a post graduate qualifications in Community Sector Management. He is the former CEO of TasCOSS, and Deputy Chief of Staff to two Tasmanian Premiers. Mat’s board experience includes past Chair of Relationships Australia and currently sits on the ACOSS Board and is President of TasCOSS. Mat has also completed a Harvard Business School intensive course – Strategic Perspectives in Not for Profit Management.
• Robyn Moore, National Patron of Make-A-Wish Australia | Community Leader category
Robyn is one of Australia’s most in-demand speakers. For 25 years she has been helping to transform businesses, organisations, communities and Lives. Her voice has been heard in most homes across Australia as she famously brought Yoram Grosss’ legendary character Blinky Bill to life. Not only has she been an educator and voice-over artist Robyn is extremely passionate about community work with her contributions such as her 25 year commitment to Make-A- Wish as a National Patron and her roles as Ambassadors for Dragons Abreast Australia and the Australian Childhood Foundation.
• Nikki Alvi, House Keeping Manager at Wrest Point Hotel | Leader/Manager category
With experience in promoting and implementing employee enjoyment initiatives with 19 year’s experience in leading hotel operations. Nikki inspires confidence and high levels of customer service within her team. An expert in recruiting, training and mentoring colleagues, she is a hands-on leader, who enjoys working with people and identifies as a specialist in leadership.
• Kirk Pinner MIML, Managing Director at Outside the Square Solutions, was named State winner in the Owner/Entrepreneur category. As the founder of Outside the Square Solutions, Kirk set about doing business “outside the square”. Often taking on projects that require a different approach, something out of the ordinary and needing to be specifically tailored to suit. Doing business this way is what sets Kirk and his business apart from others – it is their point of difference. Kirk has qualifications in Business, Training & Assessment, Employment Services, WH&S, Auditing and Sport & Recreation – along with extensive experience in a range of leadership areas.
The prestigious national awards series presented by the Institute of Managers and Leaders, has celebrated outstanding leadership for 28 years.
