Venture Minerals exploration license EL21/2005 expired on 21 August, and yet ten weeks later, Mineral Resources Tasmania still lists the exploration license as ‘pending renewal’. The company is yet to notify the ASX of the expiry of the license, which comprises 65 square kilometres of the Tarkine’s Meredith Ranges Regional Reserve including Mt Livingstone, Parsons Hood, Wilson River, and Webbs Creek.

“While Save the Tarkine does not support renewal of this license, ten weeks to renew an exploration license is highly suspicious”, said Save the Tarkine Campaign Coordinator, Scott Jordan.

“It raises questions as to why the delay? Minister Barnett should place on the record whether Venture Minerals were in compliance with the conditions of the previously held license?”

“He should also consider whether a company that has failed to inform it’s shareholders and the ASX of the license expiry for ten weeks, and through two capital raising processes, demonstrates the level of integrity that should be required to hold an exploration license in Tasmania”
