Ian is covering the following points in this July climate summary, current as of 1.30pm on 1 August 2017:

• This July we have experienced very cold nights

• Hobart experienced its coldest July night since 1982

• Launceston experienced its coldest night since 1995

• Rainfall close to average for most of the state, but the east coast dry continues.
