Animal Liberation Tasmania has today issued a final call for mercy for the bull at the centre of the Dark MOFO/Hermann Nitsch furor.

“If this bull is still alive, which is a distinct possibility, then we again implore the organisers and the artist to grant him mercy.” – Kristy Alger, ALT

The group has reissued a proposal by which the bull would be rescued and rehomed at Brightside Farm Sanctuary, in a joint effort with Animals Tasmania and the Animal Justice Party.

They also cite David Walsh’s own comments on the slaughter of animals for human consumption, suggesting that he fully embrace the potential of his self-described “strong position” on minimising harm to sentient beings.

“We are not only offering a safe haven to this bull. We are also providing David Walsh with an opportunity to show a greatness of spirit, and to oppose a system he himself has described as ‘iniquitous’.” – Kristy Alger, ALT

The groups are planning a peaceful protest in opposition to the event, to be held this Saturday.
