Unions Tas & TCCI criticise WorkCover changes
Statement should be a wake-up call for Hodgman Government
A joint statement from Unions Tasmania and the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry should be a wake-up call for the Hodgman Government.
Deputy Labor Leader Michelle O’Byrne said it’s an unprecedented move.
“The state’s peak business and union groups have come together to strongly criticise the Hodgman Government’s WorkCover Board changes,” Ms O’Byrne said.
“It takes something special for the TCCI and Unions Tasmania to issue a joint statement.
“Never has the Hodgman Government’s failure to properly consult on a piece of legislation been more apparent.
“Labor raised all of the issues put forward by business and unions during the debate but the Government was too arrogant to take them on board.
“Giving ultimate power to the Minister to pick board members is a bad decision and is not in the best interests of employers or employees.
“If business groups and unions are joining together to criticise your policy, it’s time rethink your strategy.”
