 Premier backs in Treasurer after disgraceful attack
 Hodgman Government’s relationship with councils deteriorating
 Vote next week on TasWater takeover

The Premier has doubled down on his Treasurer’s spiteful attack on TasWater chairman Miles Hampton.

Labor Leader Rebecca White said the Premier refused to distance himself from the character assassination.

“The Premier has backed his Treasurer’s attack on Miles Hampton wholeheartedly,” Ms White said.

“Will Hodgman did not dispute the Treasurer’s assessment of Mr Hampton claiming the Chairman puts his own reputation ahead of the state’s.

“It was a disgraceful slur on a respected businessman that’s now been endorsed by the Premier of Tasmania.

“Now we have two senior members of the Liberal Government insulting a respected person who can’t defend himself in the Parliament.

“It will only further damage the Government’s relationship with councils.

“All 29 councils will vote next week to accept or reject the Government’s takeover plans for TasWater.

“The vote is effectively a referendum on Peter Gutwein’s future as the Minister for Local Government.”
