 Michael Ferguson opens helipad that isn’t operational
 Patients can’t be transported from North West Regional Hospital

Health Minister Michael Ferguson has been forced to admit that a hospital helipad he opened on April Fool’s Day is not actually open.

Labor Leader Rebecca White said it’s the latest example of the Government not being up front with Tasmanians over health.

“Michael Ferguson gave Tasmanians the impression that the helipad at the North West Regional Hospital was operational,” Ms White said.

“But this morning a patient was unable to be transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital because the helipad is not in use.

“It would appear the Minister got ahead of himself when he declared the helipad open on April Fool’s Day.

“If it wasn’t so serious it would be funny.

“Just like with additional beds in Southern Tasmania, the Liberal Government wrongly gave patients the impression that the helipad was open.

“Tasmanians deserve a government that’s up front with them about what services are available in the health sector.”
