Not one cent secured for water and sewerage in the Federal Budget
Gutwein’s bluster results in nothing
Labor’s $75 million commitment to Launceston not matched
Treasurer Peter Gutwein has failed to secure any funding for water and sewerage projects, despite his ongoing attacks on TasWater.
Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon said the Hodgman’s Government failure to lobby their Federal colleagues is damning.
“Despite all of Peter Gutwein’s bluster about the state of our water and sewerage assets, he failed to secure one additional cent in last night’s Budget,” Mr Bacon said.
“No funding for Launceston’s storm water problem, no funding for Macquarie Point and no funding for Mona Stage two.
“The Turnbull Government couldn’t even match Labor’s $75 million commitment to Launceston.
“The Liberals promised nothing for water and sewerage infrastructure at the Federal Election and have again failed Tasmania in the Budget.
“Treasurer Gutwein has been spiteful towards TasWater but at the same time has failed in own responsibilities.
“Labor has always argued improving Tasmania’s water and sewerage infrastructure is a combined responsibility of local, state and federal government.
“The Federal Liberals have completely neglected their part of the deal.”
