 Premier confirms he failed to meet with health leaders despite “urgent” request
 Representatives wanted to discuss “operational risks at stake”

Premier Will Hodgman has confirmed in Parliament that he refused to meet face to face with health leaders about the growing health crisis.

Labor Leader Rebecca White said it’s a telling admission from the Premier.

“A coalition of health representatives requested an urgent meeting with the Premier five months ago to discuss the crisis at the Royal Hobart Hospital,” Ms White said.

“Will Hodgman did not even bother to meet with them face to face, let alone act on their concerns.

“A letter is not a substitute for a face to face meeting with the people running our hospitals.

“This is another example of the Premier being hands-off and not prepared to tackle Tasmania’s number one issue.

“Health leaders are bypassing the Health Minister and going directly to the Premier in a last-ditch attempt to be heard.

“Unfortunately we have a Premier that is just not listening.”
