• Concerns of patients, professionals raised but ignored – it’s time for action
• Labor Leader to hold month of crisis talks
• Labor to focus on challenges, work to find solutions
Labor Leader Rebecca White will embark on a month of crisis talks with staff, patients and other stakeholders in health services and hospitals right around the state – starting tomorrow in Launceston.
“This week health professionals and patients have encouraged us to ask questions of the Premier because they are demanding immediate action to address the crisis in our health system,” Ms White said.
“But it is clear that Will Hodgman is no better than his Health Minister, rejecting experts’ advice and coldly ignoring the concerns of patients.
“The Liberals have rejected an inquiry into the health system despite it having the backing of the Australian Medical Association but I am prepared to speak to Tasmanians at the frontline.
“I will hold crisis talks around the state in the next month, listening to people who work at or rely on the help of our hospitals every day because the Liberals obviously won’t.
“Where the Liberals won’t listen, Labor will.
“Labor is prepared to focus on the challenges in our health system and work with the experts to find meaningful solutions.”
The tour begins tomorrow in Launceston and will conclude on the North West Coast in a month’s time with a health roundtable with Federal Shadow Health Minister Catherine King.
