Human Services Minister has questions to answer as parliament resumes
Labor will focus on the issues important to Tasmanians
Child safety, health, education, full-time employment
As Parliament resumes tomorrow, Labor is ready to tackle the big issues that affect Tasmanians.
Deputy Labor Leader Michelle O’Byrne said the Opposition is energised and ready for what will be a critically important year for the state.
“Labor will be focused on the big issues,” Ms O’Byrne said.
“Nothing is more important than protecting our most vulnerable children, that’s why the Human Services Minister must tell the truth,” Ms O’Byrne said.
“A cloud hangs over the Minister as we go back to parliament.
“Health remains the number one issue for so many Tasmanians and we want our public hospital system to be the best it can be.
“We’ve got a Minister who is not honest about the pressure staff are under or the trouble so many people have in accessing health care.
“When it comes to education we’ll be fighting hard for funding in our schools and demanding the Government bases any change on evidence not politics.
“And Labor will address why we are losing hundreds of full-time jobs every single month.
“We’ve lost close to 5000 full-time jobs in the last year and it’s a crisis the Government has failed to even acknowledge.
“The Government’s culture of secrecy has to end. It’s not good enough for Ministers to mislead the public and for opposing views to be swept under the carpet.”
