Australian Greens Justice Spokesperson Senator Nick McKim has called on Malcolm Turnbull to take a stand against the extremists in his party and block George Christensen from attending a dinner tonight being thrown by the racist, homophobic, Islamophobic Q Society.
“The Q Society is a dangerous hate group, full stop. The reason George Christensen thinks he can attend their dinner is because Malcolm Turnbull keeps appeasing extremists within his ranks,” Senator McKim said.
“If Christensen suffers no consequences as a result of attending this dinner, then we can only assume that the Prime Minister either endorses their views or is powerless to stop him.”
“Australians are better than this and expect more from their elected members of Parliament than to attend dinners full of extremist Islamophobes and violent homophobes.”
