This weekend I marched with millions of people around the world and my heart was filled with hope.
Hours before, Trump was sworn into the most powerful position in the western world with a dystopian list of cabinet nominations full of racist, sexist, homophobic and climate denying billionaires. Meanwhile here in Australia, some Coalition MPs are already calling to ditch the Renewable Energy Target if the US pulls out of the Paris climate deal.
But the 10,000 strong crowd in Sydney, along with millions of people marching in 600+ cities around the world gave me a glimpse of just how big our resistance could be. Yet neither Trump nor the fossil fuel industry will be defeated by a momentous display of power. To win the fight for climate justice, our movement has to unite and grow from here on in.
