 Matthew Groom tries to rewrite recent history over Macquarie Point
 Bumbling Minister can’t take credit for Mona’s work and vision
 Liberals still can’t answer key questions about the site

Matthew Groom’s embarrassing rewriting of recent history when it comes to Macquarie Point needs to be called out.

Labor Leader Bryan Green said the Minister is desperately trying to take credit for Mona’s vision and hard work.

“Matthew Groom has some gall to try and take credit for Mona’s new direction for Macquarie Point,” Mr Green said.

“It is simply a lie for the Minister to claim he instructed Mona to work on plans for the site.

“The Macquarie Point Development Corporation originally commissioned Mona to work on the site’s public space.

“It was Mona’s initiative to draw up its own plan for the broader site – clearly because the original master plan failed to inspire.

“Don’t forget Matthew Groom wholeheartedly endorsed the original master plan.
“Matthew Groom and Will Hodgman hitched themselves to Mona’s vision when it became obvious it was better than what was on the table.

“For the bumbling pair to now take credit for Mona’s involvement is embarrassing.

“For close to three years the Liberal Government has done nothing to progress the project, including a complete failure to address the sewerage works issue.

“Even now the Minister is uncommitted to moving the sewerage works with no timeframe in place for when the work will be done.

“The Premier is now talking about the project being a “30 year” development with no indication of when work will actually begin.

“Mona should be commended for its bold vision but Matthew Groom and Will Hodgman are a laughing stock when it comes to the management of Macquarie Point.”
