The Government is a long-standing supporter of the Taste of Tasmania, providing approximately $100,000 per year in subsidised rent at Princes Wharf Shed No 1 for the event.

There’s no doubt that the Taste of Tasmania is a very important part of Tasmania’s events’ calendar, and coinciding as it does with the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, is seen as a showcase for Tasmanian produce.

As a Government, we want to do more to make it an event which truly reflects Tasmania’s fantastic and geographically diverse range of products.

That’s why we have agreed in-principle to a one year $50,000 sponsorship package for the Taste specifically aimed at getting North and North West producers to take part.

This will expose attendees at the Taste to more great products from the North and North West, hopefully driving visitation North to the home of these products, and is part of our ongoing strategy to spread the benefits of the tourism boom beyond Hobart.
