Please download below a Lobster Forests Nature Reserve proposal identifying critical habitat of the Giant Freshwater Lobster (crayfish) on public land. These areas have long been recommended formal reservation by experts and official Government Recovery Plans for the species. The current draft Recovery Plan identifies this as a priority action required to recover the future of the species.
The forests in this reserve proposal are verified as high-conservation value and part of the 350,000 ha in which Minister Barnett proposes to allow logging after reversing current protections.
