The Environment Protection Authority’s decision to reduce the biomass cap in Macquarie Harbour is a sensible move.

The Tasmanian salmon industry will only be able to grow in the future if it ensures that environmental concerns are addressed. The level of fish stocks in Macquarie Harbour has been a significant concern in the community and I welcome the EPA’s decision today which will hopefully go some way to addressing this.

I will continue to work with the salmon industry to ensure that it is put on a genuinely sustainable footing.
