A reality television program’s showcasing of Tasmanian specialty timbers is a real coup for the State and particularly our forest industry.
Featuring timber salvaged from Lake Pieman by Tasmanian company Hydrowood, Channel Nine’s The Block will give national exposure to our wood products and to our State generally.
Hydrowood is a success story of our resurgent forest industries, with its innovative harvesting of specialty timbers from beneath some of our Hydro lakes.
Many Tasmanians will no doubt tune in to see what the contestants make with our timbers, which we understand will be one of their challenges.
I congratulate Hydrowood on their success in hosting The Block at their Lake Pieman operations and also at the Wynyard sawmill that processes the timber.
This will prove to be a great showcase of our wood products, and provide a boost to regional tourism through highlighting the beautiful scenery of North-West Tasmania.
The program will be aired at 7.30pm on Thursday.
