Following a successful four year battle to obtain statement of reasons documents for the decision to grant the Livingstone mine lease, and two years for the Mt Lindsay lease, Save the Tarkine has filed an application for judicial review in the Supreme Court.

“The content of the statement of reasons has confirmed our view that the decisions to grant these mine leases were contrary to the provisions of the Mineral Resources Development Act 1995”, said Save the Tarkine Campaign Coordinator, Scott Jordan.

“Both Ministers Green and Harris failed to give consideration to specific matters required in the legislation, and as such we are seeking orders from the Court that the leases be set aside”.

The matter has been listed for review on the 21 November.
