Media reports today of Tasmanians with a disability being affected by the State Government’s removal of the Taxi Subsidy Smartcard are very worrying.
I have written to the Premier, Will Hodgman, asking him to urgently assure the community that not a single person with a disability will be worse off after the funding is transferred to the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
We are talking about some of the most vulnerable people in the community. The Government needs to give them an ironclad guarantee today that they won’t be an additional cent out of pocket after these changes come into effect.
