Country music artist Troy Kemp has many number one placings on the country charts, a Golden Guitar and CMC awards as well as once being part of the successful duo McAlister Kemp, who highlighted many music festivals and also opened for big acts like Alan Jackson.
Troy Kemp is a little ‘against the grain’ to quote the name of his debut solo album. After all Troy’s parents were both in the medical field, his dad a physiotherapist and his mum a nurse. He could very well have pursued that line of career but Troy tells me he preferred instead to practice his own kind of healing through the power of music.
His inclination to become a musician began in school when Troy started supplementing his interest in sport, (those identifying blond locks are evidence of clocking up hours on the surf) with music, playing the guitar and performing in school bands.
Troy will be visiting Tasmania on October 7 with ‘This Crazy Life’ a mini festival of country music that showcases 7 of the up and coming ‘hot’ new country stars from 3 countries, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Troy is proud of the show and the artists that demonstrate the evolution and progress of country music.
Troy’s latest single “How We Roll Around Here” has found its way to number one on the Australian country radio charts.
