Primary producers who have been hit for a second time by flooding in recent months could be eligible for further Tasmanian and Australian government disaster assistance.
Farmers who have suffered ‘compounding damage’ on their land may be able to access clean-up grants initially set up to respond to the June floods.
For example, if a fence was made unstable by the June floods and then destroyed by a subsequent flooding event after the June floods, its replacement could be considered for funding.
Eligible producers are entitled to receive up to $10,000 under the NDRRA primary producer clean-up grants, so those who have claimed less than this total may be able to receive additional funding up to the total amount of $10,000.
The Hodgman Government is doing everything it can to ensure that those in the community most affected by natural disasters can access the assistance they need.
We encourage anyone who thinks they may be eligible for grants under this arrangement to contact the Tasmanian Flood Recovery Taskforce.
This arrangement applies to all eligible primary producers in the local government areas covered by the Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).
Those local government areas are: Central Coast, Central Highlands, Break O’Day, Kentish, Meander Valley, Northern Midlands, Latrobe and Waratah-Wynyard.
We know that clean-up grants are supporting farming families and their communities and we hope the extension of funding to compound damage will make a difference.
Farmers can apply for funding that will assist in the removal of debris, disposing of dead livestock, salvaging crops, grain and feed, and repairing plant and equipment.
