Tasmanian animation production company Blue Rocket Productions has had its latest series Fanshaw and Crudnutt selected by influential industry publication C21 magazine as one of the top 21 children’s television series to watch at the MIP Junior market in 2017.
MIP Junior is the world’s leading showcase for children’s programming.
With a budget in excess of $5.7 million dollars and a production schedule over two years, the series is expected to inject over $3 million into the Tasmanian economy while generating ongoing employment for over 45 Tasmanian animators, cast and crew.
This is a wonderful example of Tasmanian-created intellectual property being exported to the world, and I congratulate them on their extraordinary success.
The Hodgman Government has invested $300,000 in the series and according to the show’s creator, David Gurney, development on several other series are well advanced.
The madcap series, about two bickering intergalactic slugs and their adventures in space has been entirely conceived, designed and voiced in Hobart.
The series and telemovie commissioned by The Nine Network is a co-production between Australia’s largest independent production company Beyond International (Mythbusters) and Blue Rocket Productions.
Fanshaw and Crudnutt is expected to air on Australian TV in mid-2017.
