I decided on the title ‘Company of Wolves’ for the article regarding my recent chat with Wolfe Brother Tom Wolfe, for two reasons, one, because, like the retelling of the Red Riding Hood Tale in the Angela Carter story Tasmania’s Wolfe Brothers have created their own fairy tale from Tassie to Nashville and also because the Wolfe’s will be keeping some great country company in their forthcoming concert tour.
I caught up with Tom to chat about the upcoming ‘This Crazy Life’ concerts that will include performances in Tasmania. Crazy Life, with its collection of fresh new country artists from three countries, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, hopes to build new country music audiences by demonstrating how country music has evolved in the last decade and welcoming the new artists showcased on this tour.
Tom says the number of artists on the bill makes this tour a mini festival. The concept is a throwback, ironically to the old time country music and the town hall touring of country legends like Slim Dusty.
On the success of The Wolfe Brothers, Tom tells me the life the boys are living now is a dream that they had not imagined coming true when they first started out. Their aim says Tom jokingly, is ‘world domination’ and at the moment they are well on the way, not only successes in Australia but getting an incredible response to their music in the US. Their experience in Nashville and all over America including Indiana, Wisconsin and Minnesota has been incredible. Indeed, they are living ‘This Crazy Life’. Now, if only they could find that elusive meat pie and lamb roast in the US .
This Crazy Life tour features the Wolfe Brothers in the company of, and featuring Gord Bamford (Canada), Caitlyn Shadbolt, Troy Kemp, Christie Lamb, Craig Heath And Jody Direen (Nz). You can see them
