Launceston City Mission will now save money on their energy bills thanks to the installation of solar panels and LED lighting.
The energy saving infrastructure has been installed at 3 sites –Youngtown and Newnham Mission Shops and the Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre (Missiondale) which is located at Evandale. Already City Mission has seen reduced external power consumption through the energy generation from the solar panels despite only being operational since July.
At the opening City Mission CEO Stephen Brown said “The infrastructure has assisted us in reducing our energy usage at three sites, which has already had a very positive impact on our operating costs. With summer coming on we expect to realise the full saving benefits of the solar panels. These savings will be reinvested in our services to the community.”
Senator David Bushby joined Launceston City Mission today for the official opening and commended the organisation for their contribution to the local community.
.
The Energy Savings Infrastructure Installation was funded by the Coalition Government investing $107,975 and Launceston City Mission contributing $111,269.
