Cassy O’Connor’s move for real-time disclosure of political donations has been exposed as rank hypocrisy.
Despite all her posturing about transparency, Ms O’Connor has failed to disclose to Tasmanians that the Tasmanian Greens received a $130,000 donation during the federal election from the owner of the former Triabunna woodchip mill, Graeme Wood.
The donation was reported in the Australian newspaper on 30th July, yet Ms O’Connor has failed to tell Tasmanians about it, much less explain what it is for.
Mr Wood has previously donated $1.5 million the Australian Greens. Subsequently, cheered on by the Greens (including supporting a taxpayer payment of $23 million to Gunns), he bought and shut down the Triabunna woodchip mill.
Ms O’Connor repeatedly claims that no one donates to a political party without expectation of something in return – presumably the same applies to donations to the Greens as well?
