“modern take on jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, swing and bossa nova.”
Nadira is a fresh face on the Tasmanian/Australian jazz scene. Based in Hobart, since 2014, Nadira has formed a jazz ensemble, backed by various amazing jazz musicians, called Nadira and Friends. They showcase mesmerizing and modern take on jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, swing and bossa nova.
Nadira’s raw, powerful and gorgeous voice is truly unique, fellow jazz musicians and jazz fans often dubbed her as a mix-bag of Eartha Kitt, Lena Horne, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, Nancy Wilson and others.
Albeit new to the Tasmanian/Australian jazz scene, a combo of Nadira’s unique voice, her natural and joyful approach to the music, and her ability to interact with the audience, has proven her ability in pulling a large number of crowds at each show she has performed in.
Nadira and Friends have experienced extremely well-received performances at various jazz festivals such as Hot August Jazz, Clarence Jazz Festival, Devonport Jazz Festival and at art/lifestyle festivals such as Fractangular Gathering. Nadira and Friends have also successfully performed at various jazz events, such as Hobart Jazz Club monthly meeting and Scamander Jazz gathering, and at various venues in Hobart such as Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) and Mi Corazon Bar in Melbourne.
