TasCOSS CEO Kym Goodes today called for the politics and blame to cease and for the elected members of the Tasmanian Parliament to instead look to solutions to the employment issues facing Tasmania.

“We are disappointed, frustrated and tired of hearing the most important issue impacting on thousands of Tasmanians descend to the level we have seen. I am certain Tasmanians are tired of it too,” Ms Goodes said.

“Solutions to this issue need to rise above any one interest group or industry sector, they need to be future focused and strategic, based on an overarching vision for our State. They require leadership.

“TasCOSS, the TCCI and our member organisations are working together to look proactively at solutions.

“We will continue to work together to progress towards our common vision; that all Tasmanians have the opportunity to participate, socially and economically.

“The Tasmania Report released last year was the first step in this collaboration.

“We will work with the community and business to progress action on this regardless of the position of the Government, putting listening and leadership ahead of politics.”
