Friday 19 August 1.30pm, Commonwealth Government Centre, 188 Collins Street

This week has seen “pop up” actions around Australia in response to the leaking of the Nauru Files, which document the shocking details of abuse of asylum seekers and refugees held in detention on Nauru.

A wide range of asylum seeker advocacy groups have converged on over 45 offices of Members of Parliament and Immigration Department offices across Australia in protest. This Friday is Hobart’s turn.

Armed with paper dolls to symbolise the men, women and children who have been abused and traumatised by offshore detention, the participants will be demanding that the Australian government close the camps and resettle all refugees held in offshore detention in Australia.

Activities will commence at 1.30pm at the Commonwealth Government Centre at 188 Collins Street, Hobart.

This action is being organised by the Tassie Nannas with the help of the Amnesty Asylum Seeker Support Group and is part of national action initiated by the group Love Makes A Way.
