It will be all spins, twirls, dips and other impressive dance moves as Glenorchy Mayor Kristie Johnston takes to the dance floor on Friday 12 August to help raise money for the Glenorchy Community Fund.
Mayor Kristie Johnston is partnering up with Glenorchy District Football Club superstar, Tom Cleary, in a “Dancing with the Mayor” spectacular performance. They will be performing their version of the iconic “Time of My Life” routine from the classic movie, “Dirty Dancing”.
Mayor Johnston said “Tom and I have been rehearsing this for weeks now and it is promising to be a very entertaining performance. The Glenorchy Community Fund supports local community groups in Glenorchy and we are delighted to be able to assist them in raising much needed funds”.
The dance will be performed at the Glenorchy Community Fund annual dinner and members of the public are encouraged to book tickets to see the dancing spectacular. “We would love to see a huge crowd at the dinner supporting the Glenorchy Community Fund and cheering us on” said Mayor Johnston.
And as for whether the “iconic lift” (where Patrick Swayze lifts Baby above his head) will be part of the routine, Mayor Johnston said “You’ll just have to come along on the night to see for yourself!”.
The Glenorchy Community Fund Dinner will be held on Friday 12 August, 7pm for 7:30pm at the Elwick Racecourse Function Centre. Tickets are $75pp and can be booked at www.trybooking.com/MBAK
All proceeds go to the Glenorchy Community Fund.
