What is going on at Arm End, South Arm?

From the Friends of the Arm website HERE, which has a special report on the golf plan …

Does anyone know what is going on at Arm End on the South Arm, at the very end of the tiny, narrow public road at Opossum Bay?

Presently, it is vacant and gives folk a quiet, leisurely stroll, sail, swim, picnic, or just an escape in a superb unspoiled, Derwent setting.

However, it is earmarked, with what permission or popular support, to be some type of elitist golfing resort.

We all know the pollution, water resources and traffic that come with that. This is a low rainfall area with many wetlands and other beautiful ecosystems.

Ever driven through Opossum Bay main road? T’is very tight.

Ever sailed into the tranquil inlets around this little headland?

Just try to imagine what it will become in the hands of greedy capitalist developers.

T’was once grazing land and perhaps in need of re-rehabilitation, but regeneration to an original state would be the sensible thing to do, ensuring enjoyment by all who respect it.

Mercifully, Ralph’s Bay was saved from total habitat destruction and and worse; now where are the relevant politicians and others who ought to be caring for the Arm End?

Cat got your tongue?

Scared?

Apparently, details of the lease and the future of this precious place are not available for scrutiny.

Who are you? How did you procure this privileged position? What are you going to do with it in the future once you have grasped it with your greedy hands?

When are Tasmanians and indeed, all Australians going to take control from rapacious developers and have a say in their future?

This is especially pertinent to Tasmania, as a chance remains to preserve it to thwart the uglification of coastal landscapes – as has destroyed much of the Eastern Seaboard of Australia.

Any anti-development of Arm End comments placed on the Mercury page are swiftly removed. Now that epitomizes Fascist censorship, in the vanDemonian state of cronyism, nothing has changed.

Do something before it is too late.
