What Goes On at TasWater?
Now that we have stopped rolling on the floor with laughter, my bosses and I have a question. Or two, or maybe a heap more.
Why has TasWater sent notices to at least two residences on Oldina Road’s southern end, about interuptions to the water supply at Yolla?
Neither residence, or any other residence at the southern end of Oldina Road are connected to the Yolla water supply, so the names of the residents and their addresses should not be on TasWater’s database.
Quite clearly this database exists, that’s how letters like this get generated. Quite clearly these unconnected properties several kilometres from the end of Tas Water’s infrastructure are on the database.
Why would TasWater, an organisation which tells us it needs to carefully husband its cash in order to fund much-needed infrastructure upgrades around the state, be wasting it on adding the names of people it cannot possibly bill to its database and then wasting it again by printing letters and posting them out to people it is not providing any service to?
How many other residents around Yolla who are not connected to the water supply have received these letters?
Is TasWater really stupid or is this mistake giving us a peek at some future plans by TasWater to try and collect revenue from property owners without providing any service?
Does it have anything to do with metering rainwater or water pumped from streams and dams? Or has TasWater calculated that it can make a profit by running new infrastructure past rural residences and charging them regardless of whether they use TasWater’s supply or not?
Time for some answers, Tas Water.
Real answers, not the spin doctor bullshit that is passed off as corporate communication these days.
What are you up to that you are not telling us about?
