Renewable energy will be put firmly on the election agenda this Friday when a new political party announces its candidates for Tasmania.
At 11am on Friday 3 June, Peter Breen, the national convenor of the Renewable Energy Party will announce and introduce the party’s two Senate and three House of Representatives candidates for Tasmania.
The party is a response to the global challenges of climate change and focuses on the employment and economic opportunities for Australia in building the energy systems of the future.
“The support for renewable energy among Australians is higher than the support for any individual political party and we believe that voters across the whole political spectrum want a strong voice for renewable energy in Parliament” said Mr Breen. *
“I am delighted with the range of expertise and life experience among the party members who have nominated in Tasmania” said Jack Gilding, the Party’s Tasmanian Campaign Coordinator.
“Our candidates have diverse life experiences and skills across many aspects of renewable energy, covering practical business experience as well as social and technical policy. All our candidates share a passion for responding to the challenges of climate change and employment with local action and initiatives as well as national policies.”
On Saturday 4 June the Renewable Energy Party will set forth in its bus for a listening tour of local communities to listen to their concerns about energy now and for the future; along with seeking ideas for renewable energy in their local communities across Tasmania.
