… WITH A RALLY OUTSIDE CEO, RICHARD SADEK’S OFFICE
SOUTHERN CROSS CARE STAFF FROM ACROSS THE STATE WILL RALLY OUTSIDE THE ROSARY GARDENS FACILITY TODAY AT 2.00PM, DELEGATES WILL DEMAND A MEETING DATE BE SET TO DISCUSS THE ONGOING CRISIS IN AGED CARE AND THE CRIPPLING WORKLOAD ISSUES.
Following recent rallies at Yaraandoo in the North West and Mt Esk in Launceston, staff at Southern Cross Care (SCC) facilities across the state are continuing their action to raise community awareness that resident care continues to be compromised due to crippling workloads created by short staffing.
“Staff employed at Aged Care facilities across the state continue to tell us of residents whose care is being compromised because there are not enough people employed to provide the level of care that our community expects to be provided to our elderly relatives and friends and management continue to turn their heads with arrogance,” Lead Organiser Joanne McEvoy said.
“The dedicated people who work at Southern Cross Care are distressed that, due to a lack of staff they are not able to provide their residents with the care that they deserve. For months now HACSU Members have been requesting a meeting with the CEO of Southern Cross Care, Richard Sadek, to discuss their concerns. To date, management is still refusing to meet with our Members. This apparent lack of respect to our Members, who provide the care and support to some of the most vulnerable people in our community is a disgrace”.
“HACSU is calling on Southern Cross Care management to meet with our Delegates as a matter of urgency, before resident care deteriorates further and someone’s loved one suffers as a result of SCC’s neglect,” Joanne McEvoy said.
