Dear CEPU members,

Over the past week we have conducted Union meetings in as many depots as we could get to. The overwhelmingly response from members is that TasNetworks needs to get serious and get back to the bargaining table.

The CEPU has tried all week to get a commitment from TasNetworks that they would urgently resume negotiations, we even tried again the option of a rollover agreement to act as a circuit breaker and get past the current energy situation. They either outright ignored us or provided a responses about maybe meeting later at the end of the month – no guarantees.

Many members and Delegates have contacted us today advising they have had enough and want to increase the industrial action up to and including an indefinite state-wide stoppage.

Attached is a bulletin about this including some advice around on call and the control room. On the second page is further advance notice we have provided the CEO of members intention to escalate the industrial action.

Finally I just wanted to highlight our response in relation to work associated with the Energy Crisis. As you would all be aware, this work is being predominantly performed by Hydro Tasmania and its contractors and not TasNetworks, however there are areas of overlap and the CEPU’s position remains the same, that is our industrial action should include bans on work directly associated with the energy crisis efforts.

Any questions please contact your local Delegate.
