Helen Richardson, AEU Tasmanian Branch President, said:

“It’s very disappointing that no agreement was reached at COAG to secure the rollout of Gonski school funding that would deliver up to $80M for Tasmanian schools in 2018 and 2019.”

“It appears Mr Turnbull has left the door open on school funding post-2017, so there is more work to be done by parents, teachers, the state government and others to convince the Prime Minister to fully implement Gonski.”

“Gonski provides for more teachers, more literacy and numeracy support, and more individual teacher time for students, which we know enables them to reach their potential and every child deserves that opportunity.”
